Complexity is the enemy of security. The smaller the attack surface, the easier it is to defend. I prefer lean dependencies and explicit, readable code.
The threat landscape evolves daily. Stagnation is a vulnerability. I dedicate a significant portion of my time to building labs, breaking things, and studying novel attack vectors.
